Match Report Hockey: EHL – Conference West (Women) v Gloucester

10 March 2012

Fixture: Team Bath Buccaneers v Gloucester

Date: Saturday 10 March 2012

Score: Team Bath Buccaneers 1-1 Gloucester

Venue: University of Bath Sports Training Village

In a game where a win was needed, Team Bath Buccs fought hard to gain a well earned point.

Working hard in a high press Buccs were able to pin Gloucester back but were unable to convert their early chances in the D.

After one of the attacks broke down, hard work in defense high up the pitch by Lucy McNaught reaped rich dividends for her as she regained the ball in the D and was able to calmly lift the ball over the goalkeeper to put Buccs 1-0 up at half time.

Buccs started the second half with tempo and pressed Gloucester hard. There were three excellent opportunities for Buccs to increase their lead; a right wing cross by Dani Black and through balls from Zoe Shipperley and Josie Rixon were not put away by the forwards.

Buccs then went a man down through a suspension and this handed Gloucester the opportunity to relieve pressure and get back into the game.

They were rewarded midway through the second half with an equalising goal.
