This season Team Bath Futsal Club have managed to reach the Grand Finals for the first time in its short five year history.
Team Bath play in the FA National League Midlands Conference and have recorded a top two finish to secure their place in the Grand Finals.
The Grand Finals is the culmination of the top six Futsal teams in England coming together to compete for the National Championships and Englands one European spot on offer to the UEFA Futsal Cup (Europe’s most prestigious Futsal Club Competition).
The Grand Finals take place on Saturday 12 May and Sunday 13 May at Mayesbrook Sports Arena, Barking, London.
Team Bath reached the Grand Finals with a 9-6 win over Loughborough last weekend in what has been their best season as the team finished runners up at the BUCS championships last week as well.
Head Coach Sion Kitson commented on this achievement saying “This is a fantastic achievement for the whole club. A lot of effort has been put in by the players and staff this season and we have reached one of our long term goals of making it to the Grand Finals.
This year I set the team two goals, to win BUCS and make the play offs. Last week we lost the BUCS final 4-3 but then three days later we beat Loughborough away to secure our play off place. The team has done ever so well this year and it is great three of the players have also gone onto be selected for the England Futsal squad.
This achievement is for everyone who has ever played for the club as they have all contributed to moving this club forward and the club has made huge strides on and off the court in five years.
We will be going into these Grand Finals full of confidence ready to compete and we will not be going to make up the numbers.”
Team Bath have already been joined in the Grand Finals by Manchester, Oxford Lions, Helvecia (four times champions) and Genesis.
