Murray equals her World Cup best

16 April 2012

University of Bath student Samantha Murray equalled the best performance of her modern pentathlon career but just missed out on the medals in Hungary at the weekend.

The French and Politics student finished fourth at the World Cup in Szazhalombatta, equaling her best World Cup finish achieved in Budapest two years ago.

The 22-year-old arrived at the competition ranked 23rd in the world but produced a terrific run/shoot to climb from 20th and just miss out on the medals.

Team-mate Mhairi Spence, a University of Bath Coach Education and Sports Development graduate, finished eighth in the women’s final, with Sports Technology graduate Sam Weale the best of the Brits in the men’s final, coming 19th.

Jamie Cooke, Britain’s world junior champion, who like the other members of the GB team, trains at the Pentathlon GB High Performance Centre at the University of Bath, came 25th.
