Following an extensive and successful playing career, in which she represented England and won the inaugural Superleague title with Team Bath in 2005/06, Jess turned her focus to coaching in 2006/07 when she spent a season as head coach of Celtic Dragons before returning to Team Bath in 2007/08 as assistant coach.

In May 2008 Jess stepped up to the role of head coach and was joined in the coaching team by Anna Stembridge (nee Mayes). Together they coached Team Bath to the Superleague title in 2009 and 2010. Jess and Anna also coached England U21s, with Jess having previously coached England’s U17 and U19 teams too.

Jess coached Team Bath to their fifth Superleague title in 2013 and moved into the director of netball role in 2015 following the return of Anna Stembridge as head coach.
