Date > Saturday 29 September 2012
Score > Havant 0-5 TBB
Venue > Bancroft Way Havant
Team Bath Buccaneers look to have put their stuttering start behind them as they picked up their second West Conference win of the season at Havant on Saturday.
Buccs travelled to the South-Coast club with no less than four former Havant players in their squad and it was a number of these players who inflicted the damage in a 5-0 win for Jody Paul’s side.
Tom Alsop opened the scoring for Buccs in the 21st minute with a superb reverse stick finish after a long aerial pass from Tim Davenport. Former Havant player Sam Hatherley made it two a minute before the break when he struck a powerful reverse stick effort low past the Havant keeper.
It was probably an underserved 2-0 lead for Buccs who struggled to gain control in what was a topsy-turvy first half.
The second half was a different story however, and the home side struggled to deal with the much sharper Buccs outfit that returned to the pitch after the restart. Buccs kept the ball for large periods and were rewarded with a further three goals, all coming from the stick of former Havant man Tim Davenport.
His first was an instinctive finish three minutes into the half following a fine pass from Ben Carless. Six minutes later Davenport was fed by a superb through-ball from Charlie Olley before finishing low past the Havant keeper.
Davenport completed his hat-trick in the final minute, flicking home from a penalty corner to condemn Havant to their third straight defeat of the season.
With the win Buccs move up to third in the division, a point behind leaders Guildford who were held at Cheltenham.
On Sunday 7 October Buccs entertain Bristol-based Firebrands at the STV (1.00pm).
