Team Bath Futsal triumph in league opener!

Team Bath Futsal kicked off season 2012/13 in empathic fashion with an impressive 11-4 victory over University rivals Loughborough.

Bath began the game in a rampant mood creating numerous chances and forcing good saves from the Loughborough Goalkeeper early on, but it was Loughborough who took the lead with Morgan drawing out Goalkeeper Dix for Rooke to slot home.

Player/Coach Kitson immediately called a ‘Time Out’ which had an instant impact on his players as they went goal crazy in a mouth watering 10 minutes of Futsal.

Parkes grabbed two in quick succession, Kitson’s quick feet brought the third, Jennings smashed home the fourth after good work from Ingram and then Kitson headed home the fifth from a super Parkes cross to put Team Bath 5.1 up.

Good defensive play by Team Bath kept efforts on the home goal to a minimum, but anything that did get through was dealt with by Dix.

The second half started more evenly with both teams trying to keep possession of the ball, Bath began to step up a gear and eventually went 6.1 through Jennings, Dix was then replaced by Jones in the Bath goal who made a couple of smart stops before Khurana made the scoreline 7.1 with a cool finish.

Loughborough then deployed a ‘flying goalkeeper’ which put Team Bath on the back foot with Rooke pulling one back to make it 7.2.

Team Bath’s response was instant as good work from Parkes forced a Loughborough player to put in his own net, this was followed up by a Jennings finish for his hat-trick, Rooke then finished well for Loughborough to gain his hat-trick to make the score 9.3.

Loughbrough continue to play with five outfield players but Bath defended superbly limiting the away team to long range efforts that were dealt by Jones.

Late long efforts from Ingram and Jennings brought two more goals after Loughborough had lost possession. Loughborough gained their final goal through an unfortunate own goal late on.

This was a superb start to the campaign with each player playing their part with Gary Bell and Lee Hedges also impressing on their Team Bath National League debuts.
