Team Bath Buccanneers took the West Indoor title at the University of the West of England Sports Hall on Saturday 8 December 2012. This sees them bounce back into  the England Hockey Indoor League Div 2 South in January following last seasons disappointing relegation.

They travel to Flemming Park Eastleigh on the 5/6 January 2013.

Yate 2 v 5 Buccs

First match of the tournament saw two local sides meet at 10:00 in the morning. Buccs ran out comfortable winners in the end with goals from Stone, B Francis, Matthews (2), Howse.

Buccs 8 v 3 Yeovil & Sherborne

Goals from Olley (2), Stone (2), Matthews (4) and a penalty save from skipper Tom Skinner ensured Buccs topped group A to advance to the semi finals.

Buccs 7 v 1 Isca

After dispatching poor opposition in the first round and overcoming lengthy spells away from the pitch – Buccs returned late in the afternoon to face Isca, relegated from Nationals last year.

However the rise in class of opponent only served to raise Buccs’ standards proving to be probably the best performance of the day.

Buccs outclassed Isca to go 4-0 up before Isca through caution to the wind and subbed off their keeper for an extra outfield player, leaving themselves exposed at the back and Buccs snatched another three.

Goals from Stone (2), Mardell (4), S Francis.

Buccs 4 v 0 Cheltenham

The final saw a three-way round robin between Buccs, Cheltenham and the Royal Navy.

Up first, Buccs, now in the white away strip seized the advantage and scored twice early on against Cheltenham. From there the result was never in doubt and Buccs ran out comfortable winners and taking a huge step towards the West Cup trophy.

Goals from Matthews (2), Olley, Stone.

Buccs 1 v 1 Royal Navy

In truth Buccs should have won the final encounter. A Charlie Olley corner routine put them in front early on and Buccs should have doubled their lead.

The physical Navy side eventually equalizing late in the game from an incorrectly given corner to gift them a rather flattering draw.

The Draw was however, enough to crown Buccs West Cup Champions at the end of a very long day of hockey.

Tom Skinner (C), Ben Stone, Andy Howse, Shaun Matthews, Charlie Olley, Ben Francis, Sam Francis, Stu Adam, Mike MacDowell, Josh Mardell.
