16 December 2012

Buccaneers boys took the long trip to Plymouth to contest the Regional Indoor 6-a-side tournament on Sunday 16 December with the aim of qualifying as winners or runners up, to represent the West in the National finals in January.

Teams involved Taunton Vale, ISCA, Ashmoor and Team Bath Buccaneers

It was the worst start possible as Buccs conceded two early goals within two minutes and despite chances from short corners, despite relentless pressure the Bath 6-a-side team  could not get back into the game.

The coach substituted the goalie for another outdoor player to try and reduce the deficit but this backfired with two more goals from Ashmoor.

Final score TBB 1 Ashmoor 5

Scorer: Potter

In the second game against Taunton Vale, Team Bath Buccs went down 2-0 but the team was rallied by Ian Cordwell and fought back against Taunton to record a hard fought draw and to get a much needed point in the pool.

TBB 4 Taunton Vale 4

Scorers:  Stone, Horler(2) and Seward

The final game was against ISCA and Bath Buccs had to win by three clear goals.

A fine start involving crisp passes from all the outfield players saw a great finish from Ed Horler to take the lead and build team confidence.

The next 10 minutes was sublime and goals kept coming and at last this was looking like a team seeking National final status.

Half time 3-1 still needing a clear goal, Potter and Seward controlled the midfield, Stone Gregory and Daxter blocked the defence and their timing of passes were precise never giving a chance away and waiting for the time toi strike for goal.

Second half finishes from Potter Horler(2) and Stone put this game out of reach from ISCA and guaranteed a spot as West runners up

Final Score   TBB 7 ISCA 2
