Team Bath Buccaneers are the Maxifuel Super Sixes champions of Div 2 (South).
Buccs qualified for Div 2 (South) as West Cup champions and faced five games over two days.
Matches were all played at Fleming Park Sports Centre, Eastleigh.
First up Buccs faced Trojans.
Buccs demolished the South champions in a scintillating first half performance, netting six times in the process. Although Trojans fought back to 4-6, this result truly stamped Buccs’ authority on the tournament.
Unfortunately Ben Francis’s weekend was cut short by a broken jaw, reducing the squad to just eight – we wish him a speedy recovery!
Last game of the first day saw Buccs defeat the well drilled East champions; Havering 7-5.
Two wins from two was the ideal start, and a fantastic platform to mount a title challenge the following day.
First up on Sunday, Buccs saw off the challenge of West Herts in a feisty encounter 6-4.
A particularly sweet result, considering the Watford side had relegated Buccs the previous season on goal difference!
Next up Buccs narrowly came out on top of a tight match with Oxted, 6-4 – with Buccs scoring four times in the last five minutes to clinch a resilient comeback from 4-2 down.
A result that ensured Buccs would top the table.
Last up, a very tired Buccs who had brought the smallest squad of all six teams were beaten on the break against Chelmsford.
The final score was 6-8, but in fairness this was a sloppy performance from a very tired team in a match that mattered very little.
Buccs now qualify for Div 2 , at the University of West of England 19/20 January, where they will progress to play the top three sides from Div 2 (North) with the sole aim of regaining promotion to Div 1.
