Fixture: Team Bath Buccaneers v Cheltenham
Date: Saturday 2 Feb
Score: TBB 3-1 Cheltenham
Venue University of Bath, Sports Training Village
Team Bath Buccaneers resumed their West Conference campaign on Saturday with a 3-1 win against Cheltenham at the Sports Training Village.
Jody Paul’s side were looking to maintain the pressure on the three teams above them in the division and they put in a professional display to do just that.
It took the home side until midway through the first half to break the deadlock when Matt Ruxton followed up Ben Carless’s penalty corner attempt to flick home past Giles Rooke. Another penalty corner brought about Buccs’ second goal on the stroke of half time when captain George Farrant fired home a deflected effort to put daylight between Buccs and their opponents.
Will Pearce flicked home for the visitors with ten minutes remaining but any hopes of a Cheltenham fight back were quashed in the 64th minute when Tim Davenport scored Buccs’ third goal.
Josh Guy’s searching ball found Davenport in the circle who shot on his reverse to beat Rooke and give Buccs all three points.
Buccs remain in fourth place, four points off the lead after leaders Cardiff won at Firebrands. Buccs have another home game on Sunday when they entertain Havant at the STV (1.00pm).
