Match Report: Mens Hockey League – West Conference (Men)

Fixture: Team Bath Buccaneers v Havant

Date and time: Sunday 10 February 2013

Score:  TBB 1-0 Havant

Venue: University of Bath Sports Training Village

Team Bath Buccaneers continued their fine form in the second half of the season with a 1-0 home win over Havant.

On a miserable day at the Sports Training Village the hosts were made to work hard for their win by a resolute Havant side battling at the other end of the table.

Buccs went in front in the 14th minute when Tim Davenport flicked home past Havant keeper Andy Isaacs from a penalty corner.

After the goal neither side was able to get a firm grip on the game, with chances limited at both ends. The visitors probably had the better of the opportunities, with Andy Pett looking lively up front for Havant.

Buccs keeper Tom Skinner had to be at his best to deny Pett on several occasions during the match.

As the second half progressed Havant began to come into the game more and Buccs found themselves having to defend wave upon wave of attacks from the south coast side. Pett, Satchi Reddy and Maciej Janiszewski all went close for Havant but were foiled by Skinner.

Buccs held on to record a pleasing victory, and in doing so they further closed the gap at the top of the West Conference.

Cardiff + UWIC, leaders of the division before play started on Sunday only managed to draw at Birmingham University meaning that Guildford replaced them at the top of the division.

Buccs remain in fourth position in the division but are now within just two point of the leaders.
