23 February 2013

Match Report: West Womens League Premier Division

Fixture: Yate v  Team Bath Buccaneers

Date and time: Saturday  23 February 2013

Score:  Yate 2-3 TBB

Venue: Yate Outdoor Sports Centre

Team Bath Buccaneers travelled to Yate to face a tough game from both the opposition and the weather on Saturday 23 February.

We got off to a great start, through some strong passing play through Midfield and Defence. Crosses from Rebekah Walker across the D gave us some solid chances with Lara Williamson making some excellent runs to get on the end of them.

Suzie Barnes put her name on the score board to see TBB go one nil up through a deflection that left the Yate defence reeling.

TBB continued to attack Yate in the first half and went two nil up in the second half after a short corner where Rosie Bennett slipped the ball left for Rebekah Walker to find the back board with an excellent shot on target.

Yate did not give us an easy ride and they battled back, winning a short corner which they successfully converted bringing the score to 2-1. TBB kept their heads up and powered through, with Sarah Whitehead taking a shot on goal, with Rebekka Walker finding the rebound and once again finding the back of the net.

Yate managed to win another short corner which they unfortunately converted.

TBB battled through til the end of the 70 minutes and put in a solid performance with a win we deserved.

Another three points puts us in a strong stead for next weekends’ doubleheader where we take on Bournemouth and Cheltenham.
