Team Bath 1 Havant 1
Team Bath secured a well-earned draw with Havant in their second Regional Round fixture. The Buccaneers side dominated the early exchanges, but failed to find an immediate breakthrough. Only determined defending from Eliza Matthews and Connie Redman repelled a couple of Havant breakaways.
The second half saw a brief dip in the Team Bath performance and Havant exerted pressure winning a series of penalty corners culminating in a powerful shot deflecting past a blameless Team Bath keeper.
Buccs, to their credit, rallied and scored a deserved equalizer when Ellie Lyne swept home from close-range following the breakdown from a penalty corner.
Despite some late pressure Team Bath were unable to fashion a winner.
Team Bath 7 Ashmoor 0
Team Bath comprehensively outplayed Ashmoor in the second match at Wycombe on Sunday.
Despite territorial advantage early on Buccs were wasteful, testing the Ashmoor keeper’s equipment on a number of occasions. It was late on in the half before two more goals from Ellie Lyne finally gave Team Bath the advantage their dominance deserved.
The second-half was one way traffic with Team Bath dominating proceedings.
Two goals from Gabriella Chapman, and one each Lizzie Mayo, Holly Jackson gave Team Bath a comfortable seven-goal victory.
Team Bath 1 Wycombe 0
Team Bath produced the performance of the season so far in a must-win fixture with Wycombe.
Buccs unsettled their opponents, playing at a very high tempo in the early minutes of the first half and establishing a platform in the game. Wycombe enjoyed a period of pressure themselves midway through the half and won a series of penalty corners.
From one of these, Olivia Allin cleared the ball to Susie Barnes who played a defence-splitting pass to Holly Jackson; Jackson seized on the ball and drove into space before squaring to Ellie Lyne who finished emphatically from close range to round off a superb move.
The second half was evenly matched, with play concentrated in the midfield. Wycombe enjoyed more possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances.
A number of penalty corners were closed down by obdurate Team Bath defending and the midfield of Katie Holdoway, Allin and Barnes worked hard to prevent Wycombe from running at the defence.
With just over five minutes to go, Wycombe finally created a clear-cut chance only to be denied by an outstanding reflex save from Nicole New.
After this narrow victory over a strong Wycombe side, Team Bath will now go on to contest the National Finals in Wakefield in April.
