Match Report: West Womens League Premier Division

Fixture: Exeter v Team Bath Buccaneers

Date: Sunday 10 March 2013

Score:  Exeter 2-1 TBB

Venue: University of Exeter Sports Camp

A disappointing day for Bath Buccs who travelled away to play Exeter 1st who are currently top of the league .

Having beaten them in their first encounter before Christmas and after playing so well against Cheltenham last Sunday Buccs were hopeful of a good result; however after a 30minute delay to the game Buccs started slowly and were put under pressure by some of Exe quick forwards , some sloopy defence play lead to Exe going 1-0 up after just six minutes .

The pressure continued and Exe were awarded a penalty corner which Buccs GK Kelly Bowden saved but put the ball on to a defenders foot to concede a penalty stroke which Exe converted to make it 2-0 with only 10 minutes gone.

Buccs regained composure and were unlucky not to score on occasions with Lara Wiliamson and Steph Baker all having opportunities.

The second half Buccs regained their form and quickly pulled the score to 2-1 from a well worked penalty corner which Captain Helen Earle scored from.

Unfortunately despite a determined performance by the team the score remained 2-1.
