Fixture: Fareham v Team Bath Buccaneers

Date: Sunday 24 March 2013

Score: Fareham 2-4 TBB

Venue: Henry Court School, Fareham

Team Bath Buccaneers concluded their west conference season with a 4-2 win at Fareham on Sunday 24 March.

With their opponents battling against the drop, Buccs knew they were in for a tough afternoon but Jody Paul’s side were clearly determined to finish their season on a high.

They took the lead midway through the first half when Matt Ruxton’s ball into the circle was unfortunately deflected into his own goal by Fareham keeper George Harris.

The score remained at 1-0 until shortly after the break when Andy Howse fed Tim Davenport in the circle who fired home past Harris. Davenport doubled his tally a minute later when he ran onto Josh Guy’s defence splitting pass to lob the advancing Harris.

An own goal gave Fareham hope midway through the second half but Shaun Matthews killed off any hopes of a Fareham fight back with a lovely solo effort to give Buccs a 4-1 lead.

Alex Bennett converted a penalty corner for Fareham on full time to reduce the arrears but it was a comfortable win for Buccs who finish the season in fourth place in the West Conference.
