Jamieson on universities sportsman of the year shortlist

University of Bath graduate Michael Jamieson features on the shortlist for the British Universities sportsman of the year award.

Jamieson, who has just graduated in Sports Performance, won silver in the 200m breaststroke at the London 2012 Olympics.

He features on a three-strong shortlist for the award, along with table tennis player Chris Doran of Nottingham Trent University and hockey player Harry Martin of the University of Nottingham.

The winner will be announced at the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) awards dinner at Herriot Watt University in Edinburgh on Thursday (11 July).

Jamieson, who trains at the British Gas Intensive Training Centre at the University of Bath, is currently at the British Swimming training camp in Majorca preparing for the World Championships, which take place in Barcelona from 28 July to 4 August.

He is joined in the GB team for the World Championships by training partners Chris Walker-Hebborn, Andrew Willis, Siobhan Marie O’Connor and Sophie Allen.

Last month he was voted University of Bath sports personality of the year.
