Nartey fifth in Croatia

16 September 2013

Team Bath judo player Emmanuel Nartey just missed out on the medals at the IJF Grand Prix at Rijeka, Croatia at the weekend.

The Ghanaian judo player went down to Germany’s Christopher Voelk in the under-73kg class bronze medal fight and had to settle for fifth place.  He had earlier beaten Britain’s Danny Williams in his second round contest.

Tom Reed, a University of Bath Business Administration graduate, finished seventh in the under-81kg class, losing to Russia’s Dmitriy Yartsev in the repechage.

But there was a medal for University of Bath Sports Performance graduate Gemma Gibbons. The London 2012 Olympic silver medallist took bronze at under-78kg.
