Fixture > Team Bath Buccaneers v Plymouth Marjon
Date > Saturday 21 September 2013
Score > 3-1
Venue > University of Bath, Sports Training Village
Following intensive pre-season training and several matches, TBB presented a strong side of 15 for the first league home game of the season.
However TBB’s confidence took a while to build, with nervous passes in defence causing some threatening breaks from Plymouth, however a change of shape started to take place and the play became more fluid with some excellent passes through returned player Pip Barnes, this led to a great cross into the circle giving Lucy Ma McNaught the perfect shot into the goal.
Short corner routines had been drilled earlier in the week so when Rosie Bennett was asked to take the first short corner of the match she delivered a perfect straight strike, giving TBB a 2-0 lead at half time.
This match was well from over, TBB knew this could go either way, so when Plymouth took a quick break at the beginning of the second half, TBB almost watched a bobbling ball angle into the goal, Plymouth followed with further breaks and only an awesome save by Nikki Wilson on the line stopped the score line becoming 2-2.
The last 15 minutes of the game TBB finally found confidence and improved link up play, these attacking phases gave rise to several short corners and once again on request Rosie Bennett delivered a straight strike taking the game away from Plymouth at 3-1.
