Fixture > Team Bath Buccaneers v Bristol Firebrands 2nds

Date > Saturday 28 September 2013

Score > 1-1

Venue > University of Bath Sports, Training Village

The second game in the season brought a chance for Buccs to put into practice their well rehearsed short corner routines.

Buccs battled to win a plethora of short corners and although the routines were well executed the Firebrands defence managed to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

There was no let up in the tempo of the match, however the score remained at 0-0 until the last quarter of the game even though there were numerous strong attacks from the forwards including Steph Baker, Lara and Vikki, but the chances were not to be converted.

Buccs pressed hard at the back and kept the Firebrands few attacks from penetrating the D; with Nikki, Rach and Rosie all putting their teamwork and tackling into practice at the back.

With 15 minutes to go and despite Buccs’ best efforts one of Firebrands’ attacks resulted in the ball trickling over the line, however Buccs dusted themselves off, re-set and within a few minutes had equalled the score, with Lara making the last touch on a great team effort goal.

As well as taking away one point; Buccs hold their heads high after a well battled match which highlighted the strengths of the team and hope to convert more goals next week in their match against ISCA.
