Team Bath Buccaneers started in a calm and confident way against Taunton, moving the ball with more ease than previous matches.
Taunton tried to take control of the game through their high target forwards, and at times created space through midfield, but the relentless work of our forwards and midfielders made life too difficult for the visitors and this led to them making few attacking phases in the first half.
The Taunton defence were strong but were finally beaten by a long ball from Rosie Bennett in defence, picked up by forward Steph Baker, who then proceeded to beat three players along the base line pulling the ball back into a congested circle, which enabled Pip Barnes to put the ball in the goal.
The second half was definitely a tough battle, but the TBB work rate and effort paid off again, with Lara Williamson pushing a calm ball past an overcommitted goalkeeper to take the score to 2-0.
Taunton did have a few attacking phases with a couple of penalty corners, but these were snuffed out by TBB defence. Goalkeeper Kelly Bowden did not touch the ball during the match, which indicated the intensity of this match and the deserved win of 2-0.
