Team Bath Buccaneers recorded a superb 3-1 away win at Indian Gymkhana on Saturday to take them to the top of the West Conference.
On the back of two wins, Buccs went into the match full of confidence and they started at a pace which showed they were determined to make it three wins out of three.
They opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Loic Cerulus threaded a fine ball into the path of Tim Davenport who finished under the advancing keeper.
Buccs continued to dominate and should have extended their lead on more than one occasion before going into the half time break with just the single goal to show for their efforts
The longer the game stayed at 1-0 the more the home side felt they were in with a chance of getting a result. Lively forward Tejinder Hanspal was Gymkhana’s biggest threat but Jack Cropper and Tom Griffiths in the Buccs defence ensured he was limited to just half chances.
Buccs defended superbly throughout the game and this clearly gave their forwards the confidence to really go at the Gymkhana defence in the second half. The away side doubled their lead in the 50th minute when Ben Carless reacted quickly to a rebounded penalty corner to cooly finish in the bottom corner.
Six minutes later and the three points were made safe when youngster Will Seward scored his second goal in two games when he unleashed a blistering reverse stick strike from a tight angle.
Buccs would have been disappointed to have conceded late on to Pravinder Hanspal’s close range effort but the victory on the road would have delighted Coach Jody Paul.
