Netballers turn on the style for photo launch

11 December 2013

Team Bath’s Superleague netballers took some time away from their training to glam it up for their pre-season photoshoot in the heart of Bath.

The reigning Superleague champions will be aiming to make it six titles from just nine seasons when they get their campaign underway at the University of Bath Sports Training Village on 31 January.

Training for the new season is already well underway and the squad – an exciting combination of youth and experience – took time away from the courts and Team Bath Gym for the glitzy photoshoot.

The photoshoot took place at Milsom Place, a backdrop combining the best of classical and contemporary Bath, and each player was treated to a styling from some of the top stylists from the Artizan salons in Bath.

Head coach Jess Thirlby said it was a fun and rather glamorous opportunity for the team to get away from the netball courts.

“It’s important for team morale to get away from the netball courts sometimes and it was great to see the team camaraderie on the day,” she said.

“I’d like to thank Milsom Place for hosting us and Artizan for making the players look even better,” she added. “If we play as well as we looked we’ll be in for another good season. Thanks too to Carluccio’s, who provided breakfast for the players ahead of the photoshoot.

“We’ve got another great mix of experience and freshers. In the past that’s already proved really successful for us. The margins in the Superleague are very small now. Four or five years ago it was easier to win titles, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult now.

“We know we have a really hard task this year, but our standards are high and we will be relentless in the pursuit of excellence and winning, and we like to develop players at the same time.”

And Thirlby is looking forward to welcome Team Bath’s loyal fans back to the Sports Training Village for the new season.

“We have such loyal supporters. I believe we have already sold more season tickets for this season than we have ever done before.  It’s just evidence that people want to get behind the team.

“I think one of our biggest developments last season was that we had a three-sided arena.  We are the only team in the league that can boast that. It makes for a great atmosphere and environment for spectators.  It’s second to none.”

“The profile of the team and of the sport is rising all the time.  We want to make it bigger and better. So if you turn up before the start of the match we have a whole package of pre-match entertainment and fans can engage with the team before the team.”

Carter Jonas is the team’s the property partner.
