Biography: Charteris graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science in 2005.

Beginning his career at Llanelli Scarlet in 2001, he made 75 appearances for the side before moving to Newport Gwent Dragons in 2003, where he spent almost a decade. In 20011 he was made Dragons’ captain.

He made his Wales début in 2004 in a match against South Africa and went on to become a regular in the side. He was a key figure in Wales’ World Cup campaign in New Zealand in 2011, playing in every one of their games as they reached the semi-finals.

Following the World Cup he, like many other British players in recent years, secured a move to France where he played for USA Perpignan until 2012. In the summer of 2014, Luke moved to Racing Metro.
