Fixture: Team Bath Buccaneers v Yeovil & Sherbourne

Date and time: Saturday 8 January 2014

Score: 3-2

Venue: University of Bath Sports Training Village

Well what a surprise, the weather for the fourth Saturday in a row decided to throw in yet more wind and rain, however this did not deter our squad of 14, which included new player Emma Field from the Seconds.

Team Bath Buccaneers started the match confidently, but could not break the deadlock until Emma Field decided to create an unusual run on the right hand side of the circle, crossing a lifted ball across the mouth of goal, which was cleverly tapped home by Steph Bannister.

Yeovil were quick on the break, with a couple of very handy forwards causing trouble throughout the game. One of these breaks led to their first goal through open play, followed by their second goal from a penalty corner.

Team Bath Buccaneers finally found the grit to turn this result around, again much circle entry was rewarded by a falling Emma Field taking a reverse stick sweep, which bobbled into the goal. With minutes to go, and persistent action in the circle, this time from the far left side of the circle Emma Field managed to find the goal yet again!

Funnily enough man of the match was an easy choice – Emma Field

Maybe a game we should have put to bed far earlier, but a win just the same, keeping us hot on the toes of Cheltenham in the promotional race.

Next week Team Bath Buccaneers face third-placed Clifton at home.
