Team Bath Buccaneers ensured that the West Conference title race will go down to the wire with a 3-0 win at strugglers Cheltenham on Sunday.

Jody Paul’s side put in a dominant display to win at a place where Buccs have struggled to perform in past seasons.

From minute one Team Bath Buccaneers had control of the game and they took the lead in the 4th minute when Ed Horler fed Will Seward, who flicked the ball over Ben Dudley in the Cheltenham goal.

Eight minutes later, Buccs went 2-0 up when Ben Stone crossed for Tim Davenport who scored his 20th goal of the season, finishing low past Dudley. Belgian midfielder Loic Cerelus then converted from a penalty corner to give his side a three goal cushion at the break.

Buccs continued to control the game in the second half and should have extended their lead on numerous occasions. Davenport failed to convert a number of golden opportunities which would have given his side an even more impressive victory.

At the other end, Buccs were defensively sound, looking organised and strong throughout with Sam Hatherley and Tom Griffiths putting in fine performances.

The title will be decided next Sunday when Buccs entertain Guildford (2.00pm). Leaders Cardiff travel to Havant who, like Guildford, are fighting to stay in the division. Team Bath Buccaneers require a win and for Havant to beat Cardiff in order to be crowned champions.
