10 June 2014

Two further University of Bath-based swimmers were today (Tuesday) added to the Wales squad for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Calum Jarvis, a University of Bath graduate, and Rachel Williams have been added to a 23-strong Wales swimming squad for Glasgow, where they will both make their Commonwealth Games debuts.

They join Jemma Lowe, who also trains at British Swimming’s National Centre Bath and was selected for the Welsh team last year.

Lowe competes at her third successive Commonwealth Games and won bronze in the 100m butterfly for Wales in Delhi four years ago. She goes in the 100m and 200m butterfly in Glasgow and features in the Team Wales 4x100m medley relay team.

They bring the total number of swimmers from Bath selected so far to compete at the Commonwealth Games to 15. They will represent five countries – England, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Scotland and Wales.

And the total number of athletes with University of Bath links selected for Glasgow 2014 is now 38, with athletes representing seven nations – England, Ghana, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Scotland and Wales – and competing in seven sports – athletics, badminton, hockey, judo, shooting, swimming and weightlifting.
