Reid named in Northern Ireland team for Glasgow

10 June 2014

Sprinter Leon Reid was today named in the Northern Ireland team to compete at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The 19-year-old will make his Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow, where he will run the 100m, 200m and 4x100m.

Reid is coached at the University of Bath by James Hillier and won silver over 200m for Great Britain at last year’s European Junior Championships in Italy.

He is a member of Northern Ireland’s 117-strong team for Glasgow 2014 and becomes the 39th athlete with University of Bath links selected to compete at the Games.

His selection means athletes with University of Bath links will now represent eight countries – England, Ghana, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales – and compete in seven sports – athletics, badminton, hockey, judo, shooting, swimming and weightlifting.
