12 June 2014

The FIFA World Cup kicks-off today and as the three Southampton FC Academy graduates in the England squad prepare for their first World Cup, we want to know who you think will be England’s biggest star in Brazil.

Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all came through the youth system at Southampton and the south coast club base part of their academy here at the University of Bath.

Current Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is perhaps the biggest name to have been through Southampton’s satellite academy here at the University of Bath.

Arsenal and England forward Theo Walcott was another household name to benefit from Southampton’s Academy system.

The University have a successful BUCS team and many of the University of Bath coaches also work with the youngsters in the Southampton Academy, which is managed by former University of Bath Head of Football Matt Hale.
