Students Curry and Toolis win Euro bronze

University of Bath students Sam Curry and Tom Toolis won bronze for the Pentathlon GB team at the Modern Pentathlon European Championships in Hungary.

The pair came home third in the men’s relay competition on the final day of the championships in Székesfehérvár.

It means the British team, which has its National Training Centre at the University of Bath, won two medals at the event following on from the mixed relay silver won by Samantha Murray and Joe Evans on Monday.

Curry, who is studying Politics and International Relations, and Toolis, a Sport and Exercise Science student, were second in the swimming and the fencing en route to winning their bronze.

Next year the Modern Pentathlon European Championships will be held at the University of Bath and will be the first opportunity for European athletes to try to achieve the qualifying standard for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
