Trio selected for European Championships

23 July 2014

A trio of University of Bath-based Paralympians have been selected to represent Great Britain at next month’s IPC Athletics European Championships.

Paul Blake, Sophie Kamlish and Ben Rushgrove are all members of the 56-strong GB team for the competition, which takes place in Swansea from 18 to 23 August.

The trio are all coached by Rob Ellchuk. Blake and Rushgrove will both run the T36 100m with Blake also tackling the T36 400m, while Kamlish runs the T44 100m and 200m.

Blake won gold over 400m at the 2011 World Championships in New Zealand and silver at the 2013 World Championships in France, where he also won 800m gold.

Kamlish won bronze in the 200m at the 2013 World Championships, aged just 16.

The trio all competed at the London 2012 Paralympics Games, where Blake won T36 400m silver and 800m bronze and Rushgrove won 200m bronze.

Rushgrove was one of the first two athletes inducted to the University of Bath Hall of Fame for Sport, alongside Athens 2004 Olympic gold medallist Jason Gardener.
