Silver for Sam at World Under-23 Champs

28 July 2014

University of Bath student Sam Courty helped the British women’s eight to the silver medal at the World Under-23 Rowing Championships in Italy.

The American crew led from the start of the final and went on to capture gold at Varese, leaving the GB boat battling it out with Germany and Australia for silver and bronze.

And it was the GB eight, with Sport and Exercise Science student Courty in the number five seat, that crossed the finish line second to capture silver.

Courty trains on the GB Rowing Team’s Start programme at the University of Bath.

Dan Harris, who heads up the Start programme at Bath, said: “I’m delighted for Sam. She’s worked really hard at rowing and she deserves the success she achieved at Varese.”
