Trio selected for European Championships

A trio of University of Bath-based Paralympians have been selected to represent Great Britain at next month’s IPC Athletics European Championships. Paul Blake, Sophie Kamlish and Ben Rushgrove are all members of the 56-strong GB team for the competition, which takes place in Swansea from 18 to 23 August. The trio are all coached by Rob Ellchuk. Team Bath MCTA Tennis Academy players have been enjoying success on the international stage, with impressive results in Sweden, Canada, Belgium and the UK. Anna Smith and partner Jos Rae finished runners-up in the women's doubles at the $250,000 WTA Tour Collector Swedish Open in Bastad. There were some local successes at the start of the annual Team Bath Tennis Festival, which is being held at the University of Bath this week. Reigning Commonwealth netball champions New Zealand have been fine-tuning their preparations for the Glasgow 20014 Games at the University of Bath Sports Training Village. University of Bath student Sam Courty has been named in the Great Britain team to compete at the World Under-23 Rowing Championships later this month. The University of Bath-based pair of Samantha Murray and Joe Evans won mixed relay silver at the Modern Pentathlon European Championships in Hungary yesterday (Monday).
