Refurbishment and upgrades to the 50m Swimming Pool in the Sports Training Village are soon to start. The swimming pool will be drained by the end of the month with some decommissioning of the plant room in advance of this.
The pool will close on Friday 19 September at 13.30, with scheduled re-opening in the spring of 2015.
The University will be replacing the complete tank, elements of the plant room and the ventilation system, and upgrading the changing room facilities.
The University fully understands that the closure of the swimming pool will cause some inconvenience. Throughout the planning phase for this complex project, the University has sought to minimise as far as possible the impact on users of the pool.
One of the benefits of starting the project now is that we will be able, with the support of Sport England, to install one of the state-of-the-art legacy pools from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This will make a big difference to the quality of our facilities.
We will post regular updates on this website to keep you informed of progress as we move towards the finish date.
