Score > Salisbury 1-2 Team Bath Buccaneers

Venue > Salisbury & South Wilts Sports Ground

A 2-1 win at Salsibury saw Buccs move to joint top of the table with Exe and Plymouth Marjon, who all have seven points after three games.

It was Victoria Sauven who put Buccs ahead after a well struck penalty corner and they should have doubled the lead soon after with a penalty stroke, but it was stopped denied by the Salisbury keeper.

Salisbury drew level shortly before half-time to see the game tied at the break.

The momentum was with Buccs at the start of the second half and they had chances to take the lead, but failed to break through the Salisbury defence.

Sarah Whitehead found the breakthrough putting the Buccaneers back in front with another well executed short corner. Buccs withstood a late Salisbury attack and the game finished 2-1.

Andrew Eversden, women’s head coach, said “This game definitely didn’t win any prizes for attractive hockey, but I’m glad the girls fought hard to secure the win in the second half.”
