Former Hertfordshire Mavericks captain Layla has a wealth of Superleague experience, having won the league title in 2011, and was named Superleague Player of the Year in 2014.

She brought that outstanding form to the Blue and Gold in 2017, producing a series of dominant displays as she and Eboni Beckford-Chambers forged the best defensive unit in the Superleague. Layla was voted by her peers into the Superleague Team of the Year.

Away from the court, Layla – who has won several caps for England – studied Medicine at Oxford University and qualified as a doctor in 2016. She worked at the Royal United Hospital in Bath and is currently at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
