Another chance for talented young sportspeople to try out for Team Bath Futures Athlete Development programme

15 December 2017

The Team Bath Futures Athlete Development programme will be staging another free screening day in January, offering young sportspeople looking to maximise their potential the chance to try out for the talent development scheme.

As well as testing their physical fitness, speed and power, the screening day – taking place at the University of Bath Sports Training Village from 8.30am on Saturday, January 6 – will also feature an introduction to sports psychology.

It is open to sportspeople aged between ten and 18 who already compete at a regional level or above in their chosen sport or who show great athletic potential and are looking for a sport to suit them.

Youngsters on the programme can access bespoke coaching sessions in the world-class Sports Training Village, designed to maximise gains and reduce the risk of injury at each stage of their growth and maturation.

They also receive nutritional advice, lifestyle management and other support services, all designed to help them achieve their full potential.

Current Futures athletes compete in sports as diverse as BMX biking, canoeing, fencing, hockey, netball, rugby and swimming.

The last screening day in September proved to be hugely popular, with a large number of youngsters keen to try out for the programme. Anyone wishing to attend the session on January 6 should register their interest by emailing Futures Development Officer Julia Bailey at talent-development@bath.ac.uk.
