Sports Performance student Levi Davis signs Bath Rugby Academy contract

15 December 2017

Levi Davis has become the latest University of Bath student to sign an Academy contract with Bath Rugby.

The England U19 winger, who is studying Sports Performance, scored on his senior debut for the Blue, Black and White against London Irish last month and has been a regular in the Premiership club’s United XV this season.

He has also impressed for the Team Bath men’s 1st XV in BUCS Super Rugby in recent weeks, scoring the winning try against Hartpury and also touching down against Leeds Beckett and Loughborough.

“I’m really excited to agree a contract with Bath Rugby,” Davis told the club’s website.

“I’ve seen the likes of Beno Obano and Zach Mercer step-up from the Academy, which is a real focus for me. I’m really focused now on getting my head down, learning as much as I can to help me develop and taking any opportunities when they come along.

“I’m in an environment where I’m learning from the likes of Anthony Watson and Semesa Rokoduguni and I couldn’t think of a better place for me to develop as a player.”

Academy Manager Andy Rock added: “Levi is a player with huge potential and we’ve seen in glimpses what he can offer. He has shown his speed and eye for the try line, and I’ve no doubt that he can become a big asset for Bath Rugby moving forwards.”

Team Bath and Bath Rugby have forged a strong partnership, with a number of players on the Academy programme also benefitting from a top-class education at the University of Bath. Shared coaches and a cohesive training programme allows players to excel and progress along a performance pathway.
