University of Bath students Will Britton and Miles Reid are in contention to make their Bath Rugby debuts on Saturday after being named on the bench for the Anglo-Welsh Cup clash against Newcastle Falcons (The Rec, 3pm).

Sport & Social Sciences student Britton (pictured) is captain of the University’s BUCS Super Rugby team, for whom Reid – a former Beechen Cliff School pupil who began a Sports Performance course this year – has appeared regularly since returning from a long-term injury in November. He is one of several Bath Rugby Academy players combining study and sport at the University.

Bath Rugby, who will be captained against Falcons by Sport & Exercise Science graduate Luke Charteris, have been assisted in their preparations for this weekend’s game by seven of the University’s BUCS Super Rugby squad.

Britton and Jack Davies, a Sport & Exercise Science student supported by a Santander Sports Scholarship, have trained with the Blue, Black & Gold all week and were joined by University team-mates Chris Barry, Scott Russell, Will Flinn, Jake Buckingham and Tom Doughty for Thursday’s training session at Farleigh House.
