Customers and visitors who use the First Bus services to travel from Bath city centre to the University of Bath Sports Training Village are advised there will be major route changes from Sunday, September 2, 2018.
All U1 journeys will now have a single main city centre departure location at Corn Street, opposite Avon Street car park, which is close to the bus and railway stations. Rather than go through the city centre as they currently do, the U1 buses will then travel from Corn Street across Churchill Bridge and along Rossiter Road to the bottom of Bathwick Hill. The return buses will go the same way and will serve a stop in the Ambury, immediately after crossing Churchill Bridge.
That means the service will no longer pick up from Dorchester Street, Manvers Street, Pierrepont Street, Parade Gardens, Bath Abbey, Guildhall Grand Parade, Pulteney Bridge and Street, and North Parade and Bridge.
A new Number 10 service is being introduced on weekdays between Bath Abbey and the Sports Training Village, operating via North Parade Road and Bathwick Hill. That will run every 30 minutes from Monday to Friday between 9am and approximately 5.30pm.
The U2 service will provide a partial replacement for the 20A/20C service previously operated by Wessex Bus and operate a circular route from the University of Bath to Twerton via Combe Down, Odd Down, Rush Hill, Englishcombe Lane, Coronation Avenue, Lymore Avenue, Shophouse Road, Twerton High Street, Watery Lane, Shaws Way, Poolemead Road, Wedgewood Road, Kelston View, North Way, Whiteway Circle, Mount Road, Southdown, Rush Hill, Odd Down, Combe Down and back to the University of Bath.
It will run on weekdays every 15 minutes between 7am and 10pm during term-time and every 60 minutes between 8am and 7pm during the university holidays. There will be an additional Saturday service throughout the year, operating every 60 minutes between 8am and 6pm.
