Team Bath Rugby take flight for 2019 with annual fixture against Royal Air Force at University of Bath

08 January 2019

The University of Bath men’s rugby team will soar into the New Year by playing host to the Royal Air Force (RAF) senior squad on Wednesday (January 9).

It is the sixth year running that the match has taken place and, with both squads including 30 players, it will be great preparation for Bath’s return to BUCS Super Rugby competition later this month and the RAF’s fixtures against the Royal Navy and British Army in April.

Aaron James, Head of Rugby at the University of Bath, said: “It’s really good to be playing host to the RAF once again, they always provide a high standard of opposition and we have built a strong relationship over the years.”

The match will kick-off at 2pm on the University’s Lime Kiln Fields and it is free to watch.

Meanwhile, the University of Bath have been invited to provide training opposition for the England Rugby Women’s squad as they prepare for this year’s Women’s Six Nations tournament. The session will take place at Bisham Abbey on January 15.
