London calling as multi-medallist Stephanie Millward earns GB selection for 2019 World Para-Swimming Championships
University of Bath-based swimming champion Stephanie Millward has been selected to represent British Swimming at the 2019 World Para-Swimming Championships taking place in London this September.
The Rio 2016 Paralympic double gold-medallist, who trains with Team Bath AS in the London 2012 Legacy Pool, will be competing in her third World Championships having won 11 medals – four of them gold – on her previous appearances at Eindhoven in 2010 and Montreal in 2013.
It will also mean a return to the London Aquatic Centre, the venue where Millward won four silver medals and a bronze at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Millward secured her place in the 24-strong British squad by achieving the relay consideration time at last week’s British Para-Swimming International Meet in Glasgow.
University of Bath honorary graduate Ellie Simmonds, who has won five Paralympic and eight World titles, will also be racing for Britain when the World Championships take place from September 9-15.
A new turning board system, the first of its kind in Europe, has been installed in the London 2012 Legacy Pool to allow training in both 25m and 50m lanes. Find out more by clicking here or watching the video below…
