VIDEO: Combining a passion for hockey with studying full-time at the University of Bath

08 May 2019

It has been a 2018-19 to remember for University of Bath Hockey Club, who have won four BUCS league titles, two cups and the most BUCS points of any Bath student club this season.

More than 330 students are part of a thriving hockey programme – led by Hockey Development Manager Ian Cordwell and England coach Jody Paul – that fields 12 teams each week in league competition, with many of the players also representing Team Bath Buccaneers on the national and regional stage.

Among the players combining their passion for hockey with a full-time, top-class education at the University of Bath this season are MJ Church Ambassador Tim Nurse, who helped Great Britain U21s win the Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia; Toby Heywood-Bourne and Harry Skinner, who were named in the England Hockey Men’s Conference West Team of the Year; and Phoebe Charnley and Amelie Green, who represented England Universities in the Home Nations.
