Team Bath Netball legend Serena Guthrie calls on local businesses to support new charity fitness challenge Fit4Bath – NOW POSTPONED
Team Bath legend Serena Guthrie, the 2019 England Netball captain, will be challenging Bath businesses to get fit for a good cause by taking part in a new charity fitness initiative being hosted at the University of Bath Sports Training Village.
However those involved will need to store up their enthusiasm and energy until later this year or into 2021 as the charity fitness challenge was to have taken place on Sunday, March 29 but is now postponed due to the Coronavirus with a new date yet to be publicised.
Serena joined SFC last year to work with schools across Bath and North East Somerset, inspiring a new generation of children to make sport an everyday part of their lives.
Serena, Team Member of Sporting Family Change, said: “It’s a really exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with Fit4Bath, the University of Bath and the Parry Family Charitable Foundation on a project that will ultimately have a huge positive impact on many local children and their families in and around the Bath area.”
Fit4Bath is the brainchild of local businessman and sports enthusiast Nick Parry. In addition to founding his company Branch Growth, Nick is also a director of the Parry Family Charitable Foundation (PFCF) which is supporting Fit4Bath by match-funding monies raised by participating teams up to £8,000.
PCFC Chair David Parry said: “We are delighted to be involved in the Fit4Bath project. All the money raised will be used to help children locally get fitter and healthier and, of course, along the way have lots of fun.
“The challenge to businesses in the Bath area to support this work by entering teams to improve their fitness and wellbeing is imaginative. Perhaps Fit4Bath will ‘light a fire’ that makes being fit one of the joys we have in life.”
Participating teams will have access to world-class sporting facilities at the University’s Sports Training Village as well as support from their own personal trainer at Team Bath where over 250 international athletes are based.
Fit4Bath will be officially launched at the Sports Training Village on Thursday, February 6 (6.15pm). Businesses and media interested in attending the launch should contact Rebecca Megson-Smith via email@example.com.
