Hockey back at the Sports Training Village as Team Bath Buccaneers start preparations for 2020-21 league season

29 August 2020

Hockey returned to the Team Bath Sports Training Village for the first time in nearly six months today (Saturday) as the Team Bath Buccaneers men’s 1st XI began their pre-season friendlies against the University of Birmingham.

The visitors won 4-2 but it was a good workout for a youthful Buccs team, many of whom were making their debuts for the club.

Buccs are scheduled to start their 2020-21 England Hockey Men’s Division 1 South campaign on Sunday, September 27 with a trip to Old Cranleighans before hosting Sevenoaks in their first home match at the STV a week later.

The women’s 1st XI, meanwhile, start their Women’s Conference West season with a home fixture against Clifton Robinson 2nds on Saturday, September 26.

Before then, Buccs’ U18 Boys have the chance to finish the delayed 2019-20 season with silverware after reaching the England Hockey Championships Tier 1 national final with a fine victory over Repton last weekend. They will now face Harrogate in Nottingham on Saturday, September 6 (4.15pm) – the match will be live-streamed on the England Hockey Facebook page.
