Following the Government’s updated Covid-19 guidelines, we are pleased to confirm that the Team Bath Sports Training Village will reopen at 6am on Wednesday, December 2nd.
Customers will once again be able to book and enjoy a wide range of activities including a workout or exercise class in the Team Bath Gym & Fitness Centre, a swim in the London 2012 Legacy Pool and a game of tennis on the indoor or outdoor courts, while community clubs will also be able to resume training.
All activities must be booked in advance and will operate in accordance with Government and sport-specific National Governing Body guidelines, as well as wider University of Bath protocols.
With Bath & North East Somerset being placed in Tier 2, guidelines stipulate that people can play certain sports which do not involve close proximity or physical contact against one person from another household, such as a singles badminton or tennis match (singles squash is also permitted within same household or support bubble). People can also take part in group activity within government and NGB guidelines.
As exercise classes are delivered to Covid-secure standards in our socially-distanced studios, in-person sessions will resume but we will also continue to offer online classes via Zoom as well as personal training indoors and outdoors.
As well as the Team Bath Gym & Fitness Centre and swimming pool, we will also reopen the sports hall, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, outdoor athletics track and outdoor pitches for activities which fall within the Tier 2 guidelines. The Sports Café will be open daily from 9am-3pm (until December 18th) and Phoenix Physio will resume on-site clinics.
Individual tennis coaching lessons will resume from December 2nd and planned Autumn 2020 courses for U18s will run as scheduled from Monday, December 7th – all those booked on before lockdown began will automatically be enrolled for these sessions. We are awaiting clarification on group adult courses. Tennis courts can be booked on an individual basis for singles play indoors and out, and doubles outdoor for those from the same household (rule of six applies).
The Founders Hall will also open from Wednesday, December 2nd until the end of the student term but will be closed over the Christmas vacation.
As the University of Bath is taking part in the National Coronavirus testing programme ahead of the Christmas break, there will be no organised student sport – competitive or recreational – during December in line with Government guidance on arrangements for most students to be tested and travel home for Christmas.
Sports Pass activities for students will still be able to go ahead for those sports where individuals can stay within this Christmas travel guidance. Click here to see a list of activities on our customer guidelines page.
Please remember to wear a mask when you visit the Sports Training Village (exemptions apply) and observe social-distancing guidelines, and to book your activity in advance. Bookings can be made from 8am on Tuesday, December 1st at www.teambath.com/bookonline.
