Swimmers taking on fundraising challenge for Team Bath AS performance club, with more than £2,500 already raised

25 February 2021

They may not be able to go in the pool at the moment but swimmers at Team Bath AS are keeping active during lockdown by taking on sponsored challenges that have already raised more than £2,500 for the club in just over a week.

There are two challenges that teams of four are undertaking over a five-week period – either running or walking the equivalent of the 876-mile distance between John O’Groats and Land’s End or the 300-mile width of the United Kingdom.

The first five days of the fundraiser saw the teams cover an incredible 2,254km between them, raising £2,062 in the process – and that has risen to £2,615 since the weekend.

Taking part alongside Team Bobblehats, who are organising the challenge, are the Red Elephants, Rusteez, Challenge Dennard, Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies, GACT and Scrambled Eggs.

The fundraiser has been organised by members of the performance swimming club, which is based at the Team Bath Sports Training Village, to show their appreciation for the work of coaches and staff who continue to support them during lockdown.
