Experience life as a Team Bath Futures athlete by coming along to free talent development taster day during October half-term

07 October 2022

Young athletes looking to progress in their sporting journey are being invited to attend a free Team Bath Futures Athlete Development taster day during October half-term.

The event, taking place on Wednesday 26th October, is open to all sportspeople and athletes aged between 10 and 18 who compete in sport or show great athletic potential.

Team Bath Futures athletes have access to bespoke coaching sessions at Team Bath’s world-class Sports Training Village facilities, designed to maximise gains and reduce the risk of injury at each stage of their growth and maturation. The programme has two levels, Blue and Gold, catering for a huge range of athletes and allowing them to progress as they develop. Sessions focus on strength and conditioning as well as speed and power, while athletes also have access to the niggle clinic with physio support to prevent injury.

BMX biker Ned Penny (pictured), who is a current Team Bath Futures Gold Athlete, said: “Futures has helped me develop my BMX performance, especially with my starts where power is crucial. The coaches are creative in finding new ways to challenge me and the sessions in the high-performance gym are a great training environment.”

Futures athletes in the current 2022-23 cohort compete in such diverse sports such as rock climbing, skiing, hockey, kayaking, netballrugbyswimming and much more.

The free taster day will take place from 9-11.30am and will include an overview of the programme, plus opportunities to try out speed and strength and conditioning sessions and ask questions. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to register their interest by emailing Futures Development Officer Julia Waldron on futures@bath.ac.uk.

Parents and coaches are also welcome to attend to find out more.
