04 March 2023

Five University of Bath students and three alumni have been selected by Pentathlon GB for the opening UIPM Modern Pentathlon World Cup of the 2023 season in Cairo, Egypt.

Sport Management and Coaching student Charlie Brown will be making his World Cup debut at the competition, taking place from 7-12 March, off the back of a top-10 finish at the recent Hungarian Indoor Open.

Ross Charlton (Sports Performance) also impressed in Budapest and joins Brown, TASS athlete Guy Anderson (Accounting and Finance) and Biochemistry graduate Myles Pillage in the men’s squad.

Santander Sporting Scholar Emma Whitaker (Sports Performance) returns to the venue where she won bronze on her World Cup debut 12 months ago as part of a GB women’s squad also featuring Alex Bousfield (Politics and International Relations) and alumnae Olivia Green and Jess Varley.

All of the athletes train at the Team Bath Sports Training Village, home to Pentathlon GB’s National Training Centre for the past 25 years.
