Ron Stewart – Sports Facilities Manager
Ron has been a Senior Manager within the Sports Department since 1994.
He started off as head athletics coach and athletics track manager, changing to Sports Facilities Manager when the Sports Training Village was first built in 1996.
Instrumental in the development of the current sports facilities, his role today includes responsibility for the management of all operations and events staff, maintenance and upkeep for all the indoor and outdoor sports facilities, health and safety, and the security of all our users.
A former Chief Physical Training Officer, Ron served in the Royal Navy for 24 years and saw action in Northern Ireland, the Persian Gulf and the Falklands.
He was formerly an accomplished athlete and coach in a number or sports, including track and field athletics, cross-country and tug of war.
