British Modern Pentathlon Championships
June 3 - June 4
The University of Bath Sports Training Village will host this year’s British Modern Pentathlon Championships.
Open to spectators, the competition for both seniors and juniors will see the best pentathletes from across the country battle it out in swimming, fencing, riding and the combined run-shoot.
Five Olympic medals have returned to the Sports Training Village during that time, starting with Dr Stephanie Cook’s gold and Kate Allenby’s bronze at the Sydney Games in 2000.
The University also hosted the 2015 Modern Pentathlon European Championships, a qualifying event for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which attracted capacity crowds and was hailed as a success by athletes, coaches and spectators.
The male and female winners of the British Championships – taking place on the weekend of June 3-4 – will be automatically selected for the 2017 European Championships to be held in Minsk, Belarus.
The Junior British Champion (ages 19-21) will be selected for the 2017 Junior European Championships which will take place in Barcelona.
The British Championships will be open for the public to watch with spectator initiatives planned to encourage people to both watch and try a new sport.
